33 games down.. Still in first place

After 33 games, the Cavs are 21-12 and lead the East’ Central Divison by a game over the Pistons. Here are the standings:

Cleveland 21-12   –
Pistons 19-12     1
Bulls 20-14       1.5
Pacers 18-16    3.5
Bucks 16-17      5.0

The Cavs also boast the East’s best record. If the playoffs started now, they would be the #1 seed in the East and face the Bucks at home. Here are the rest of the games:

5. Orlando at 4. Toronto

6. Chicago at 3. Detroit

7. Indiana at 2. Washington

Our guy LeBron is having another MVP type season. His 26.4 ppg rates him 8th in the NBA. His 6.1 assists per game rates him 15th overall in the NBA. His 6.8 rebounds a game rates him at 32nd in the league.

LeBron is leading by example for the best team in the East, and with their continued success LeBron has a shot at the MVP.

Now the Cavs will be going on the road for an extended period of time. The next 7 games will all be on the road, all against Western Conference foes. This will be a huge test for the Cavs, who have won four in a row going into Sacramento on Tuesday. Here is the Cavs remaining January Schedule:

Jan 9 at Sacramento
Jan 11 at Phoenix
Jan 13 at Clippers
Jan 16 at Seattle
Jan 17 at Porland
Jan 19 at Denver
Jan 20 at Golden State
Jan 22 v. Orlando
Jan 24 v. Phily
Jan 26 at Phily
Jan 28 v. Phoenix
Jan 30 v. Golden State

Cavs season, so far

The Cleveland Cavs are sitting at 9-6, second in the Central, 4th overall in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.  Our guy LeBron is leading the Cavs in three offensive categories, and quite frankly is putting up another MVP type season. His 27.5 points per game, 6.7 assists per game, and 1.6 steals per game lead his team.

His teammate Zydrunas Ilgauskas is also putting up pretty good numbers, shooting 80.0% from the free throw line, and getting a block and half per game. From now until Christmas the Cavs look to make a run at the top spot in the Eastern Conference. LeBron and the boys will face the Hawks tonight, then travel to Houston, face Toronto and Indiana at home, before heading back on the road to New Orleans, then both Charlotte and the SuperSonics come to town, then the Cavs head out to Orlando, and New Jersey before facing Detroit and Orlando at home.

Lebron Quitting?

Lebron James has recently been accused of “quitting” on the Cavs becaus he walked off the court a bit to early in a loss early this week.  Please!  This guy is the ultimate team player that gives 110% everytime on the court.  To make such accusations is absurd.  Lebron played hard this entire game and walked off the court with 10 seconds to go – yes – 10 seconds!  Sure, he probably didn’t handle that situation the best – but he’ll learn.  The one thing he is not; is a quitter!

Lebron followed up the accusations with a 19 point – 12 assist performance in the Cavs ROUTING of the rival Chicago Bulls.  “We played well as a team,” James said. “We didn’t just get stagnant on offense like we did in the past. It was flowing like water.”

LeBron and Cavs win thriller

In a repeat of last years first round playoffs, the Cavs were able to hold off the Washington Wizards at home Wednesday night 97-94. Our boy LeBron ended with 26 points, playing 40 minutes, while grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists.

The Cavs start the season 1-0.

LeBron now travels to San Antonio on Friday to face the Spurs! Let’s go LeBron and the Cavs!!

Lebron Limited Playing Time

Lebron James played just 17 minutes in Cleveland’s opening pre-season loss to Boston last night. The Cavs lossed 109-93 and Lebron scored six points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists in his time on the court. Rumor has it the Cavs coaching stuff wants to limit his minutes this pre-season due to his long summer tour of playing ball. “I had a long summer, and he knows that,” said James, who spent two months playing for the U.S. team at the worlds championships in Japan. “We’re going to be smart about it (playing time).”

Our question is: Will Lebron be limited once the season starts? Coaches say they might keep his minutes down during the regular season too. But I just can’t see that. If they do, the Cavs will lose more games. Lebron carries this team and he needs to be on the court permanantly. Could be a boring pre-season for us Lebron fans. He did have one nice breakaway dunk though 🙂
